Text: Ephesians 1:4

*ESV:

even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him . . .

*ETS:
Before the first day of creation God chose a people to be holy and blameless in Christ.

*DTFTD:

The Apostle Paul praised God for his grace and peace in verse three. In verse four he highlights the worthiness of God in praise. Paul is giving God all the glory for salvation and dating the security of our souls in a way that removes the possibility of our taking the credit.
The Christian is blessed because he is in Christ. Nothing of eternal value is outside of a relationship with God through Christ.

*EDS:

If you know you are saved you should also know you were on God’s mind before the world began, and he planned your blameless state in Christ before you were conceived.
Praise God forever!

INGREDIENTS: A teaching on the activity of the Trinity before the world began; A lesson on how we are blameless and holy in Christ; Word Study: “Eklegomai” (transliterated) is the word in the text translated “chose.” The word means “to choose, select.” Just as Jesus chose his disciples, (Acts 1:2; Luke 6:13; John 15:16), you also have been chosen to be in Christ.
